Single Sensor - Detects Flaming Fires - 120V Wire-in with Battery Backup - Interconnectable
This Kidde i12040 is a 120 volt wire-in single sensor smoke alarm and has a 9 volt battery backup, which is included with the unit. Operating at temperatures from 40 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, this unit detects flaming fires and utilizes ionization sensing technology, which detects invisible fire particles caused by fast, flaming fires sooner than photoelectric alarms. Featuring a one-button design for a smart hush feature and testing purposes, the alarm also features battery run down protection, which shuts the unit off when AC power is not present, reducing a low battery chirp.

I ordered seven of these to replace contractor installed alarms that were at the end of their useful life. These were easy to install as the process is like changing the back-up battery. You twist the alarm from the base, lower the unit, unplug the wires, discard the old alarm, plug in the new one, twist back onto the base. Simple.
