Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Up Grade to CCFL I search for some time for an energy efficient up grade from my old bent tip candle bulbs. I needed something that was dimmable. These arrived promptly and well packaged. The bulbs although a fraction larger than the ones they replaced fit snugly into the fixtures that each hold three bulbs. This was a important concern as there was not much room and CFL's tend to be bulky. As mentioned by others when the lights are dimmed all the way to the lowest setting on the one of the bulbs may go completely out. Just raising the control the smallest amount restores all lights with virtually no perceivable increase in brightness to the other bulbs. At their brightest they give sufficient light. The different color compared to incandescent makes them a softer light as with all fluorescents they are more in the blue than red part of the spectrum. Personally I find the hue more soothing as form of mood lighting that my fixtures where intended for. February 16, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by "Instant on", but not "instant bright". I replaced all 6 incandescents in a chandelier with these bulbs. They were advertised as "instant on" but they are NOT "instant bright" - they still take time to warm up like a CFL. Higher lumens than any candelabra LEDs I could find, color is similar to CFLs - they do not change color as they dim like incandescents do. At the low end of the dimmer, one of the bulbs flickers and goes out while the rest stay on. There is a more noticeable threshold for these bulbs to light than with incandescent. June 8, 2011

BEFORE you turn on a dimmable CCFL light bulb...

Please understand that dimmable cold cathode fluorescent (CCFL) light bulbs will not work properly at the same voltage settings used for incandescent light bulbs. If you simply replace your incandescent light bulbs without adjusting your dimmer, your new dimmable CCFL light bulbs will flicker and extinguish at the low voltage setting. Therefore, we recommend the following procedure when installing dimmable CCFL light bulbs:

  1. Turn off the power to your current incandescent light bulbs.
  2. Replace the incandescents with your new dimmable CCFL light bulbs.
  3. Re-energize the lighting circuit with your dimmer in the "full light" setting.
  4. Slowly dim your new CCFL light bulbs until they just begin to flicker.
  5. From that point, raise the light level slightly until all CCFL light bulbs are operating without flicker at a dimmed level. Set this level as your new "low setting."

This procedure should prevent flickering, extinguishing at low levels, and early failure of CCFL light bulbs. If, however, these difficulties occur, replace any CCFL light bulb with an incandescent light bulb. The addition of an incandescent or inductive load will stop the flicker, allow a lower light level setting, and should prolong the life of your CCFL light bulbs. Please let us know if we can help in any other way. (3/7/10)
