Rated 5 out of 5 by This is a great bulb! I just replaced my main kitchen fixture with (4) 4" cans (recessed). I like the small size of the can, but I was concerned that they were rated for only a 50W halogen. The larger cans can go bigger, but it's a small kitchen. Of course, I bought 4 halogens as well - they were alright, but not great. I was afraid I would need an extra center fixture or something to compensate. I decided to try these 75W equivalent CFLs, because the main reason these cans were rated at 50 was size and heat. The CFL generates very little heat, and the diameter and length were spot on - WOW - what a difference! the lumens on these bulbs are more than sufficient to light my kitchen. Too bright to look at directly, like a halogen, but lots of light output to flood the room nicely. Less heat, less energy, more light - what else would you want? Sure, I could have gone LED, but have you seen the price of LEDs? and the price on these are LESS than I paid for the halogens. so...I have four barely-used 50W PAR 16 halogens for sale...
