We live in an area of the country with long, grey winters and I use these bulbs in the main areas of our house - kitchen, living room, bedrooms...they really do seem to ward off those winter blues. They reveal the true colors of our finishes and furnishings. I leave them in all year. I haven't tracked the hours they are actually used but they do seem to burn out a little faster than my conventional bulbs - other wise I would give them 5 stars.
