I bought two of these bulbs in 2009 elated that I finally had a choice of a truly more daylight-like color than halogen bulbs have offered.
I initially used these two bulbs as the only light source in my office -- they were harsh piercing blue-sky blue. I'd recommend not using them on their own. I now use the two of these bulbs in combination with 4 5000k globe bulbs in our bathroom. With the temp mixtures these bulbs are fine.
One of the two died after only 3 1/2 years which is a fraction of the advertised 8,000 hours with just 30-60 minutes a day usage. 15 month warranty is a joke as far as life expectancy is concerned, but it will at least give piece of mind in the case that they fail shortly after purchasing (which these are known to do).

Rated 1 out of 5 by drwesterman I ordered this for the light over the kitchen sink. It quit working the next day after if was installed.
I would not buy another one of these. The first one quit working within a day after it was installed. I called and reported this and 1000bulbs replaced it with the same bulb. It also quit working again on the second day after being installed. The bulb would just not light up when you turned the switch on.
Do not buy this bulb as there is some sort of defect.
