SYLVANIA Smart+
What is ZigBee Technology
SYLVANIA Smart+ products offer incredible features that are accessible by pairing them with a smart hub that uses ZigBee technology. ZigBee is a wireless communication system that is used by a variety of automation systems to control smart devices and technology. While Bluetooth allows only a 1-on-1 communication and WiFi networks become less efficient as more devices are added, ZigBee enabled hubs operate with a mesh network. This signifies that the more devices that are added to the network, the stronger the connection becomes.
ZigBee Compatibility
A smart hub, also known as a smart bridge or gateway, connects smart devices together and allows you to pair, operate, and control them. Since smart hubs collect and translate various protocol communications, it is essential that a compatible hub is used. SYLVANIA smart bulbs are compatible with a variety of automation systems and voice integration systems. ZigBee compatible hubs include: Samsung SmartThings, Logitech, and Wink smart hubs. Smart hubs like SmartThings and Wink operate through a single app that can be accessed through a smartphone or tablet. Compatibility with voice integration systems vary by device. Some systems, like the Amazon Eco Plus, have a built-in ZigBee hub and allow for voice command without the need of an extra hub. Other compatible voice integration systems, like Amazon Alexa, require an additional ZigBee hub to work.
