LED Troffers

Improve overall lighting while reducing energy costs when you install LED troffer lights to t-bar ceilings in commercial spaces.

What are LED Troffers?

Troffer lights are the traditional drop-ceiling fixtures used in a wide range of applications and typically come in 2x4, 2x2, and 1x4 sizes. They are commonly used in a wide range of commercial applications such as conference rooms, offices, schools, hospitals, retail stores, and other similar locations that use grid ceilings.

Troffers are easily to recognize due to their design. They have a center basket that can house either fluorescent tubes, LED tubes, or integrated LED arrays. These fixtures work by directing most of the light output into the back of the fixture, and then reflecting it down to the ground. This method ensures uniform illumination while reducing glare and shadows.

When compared to traditional fluorescent fixtures, LED troffer lights last far longer and use a fraction of the power, reducing both maintenance and energy costs. Plus, fixtures using integrated LEDs have no bulbs to replace.

Types of LED Troffer Lights

Troffer lights are available in several different types: standard LED, selectable LED, and LED ready. Standard LED fixtures have a single preset wattage and color temperate. Selectable LED fixtures allow to you choose between several preset options during installation. Depending on the fixture, you can adjust the color temperature, the wattage, or both using sliding switches. This allows you to tailor the lighting based of the needs of the space.

LED ready troffers are a little different. These troffer lights are essentially just the fixture and do not come with any tubes or integrated LED arrays. Instead, they are designed to operate ballast bypass (Type B) LED T8 tubes that are purchased separately. Make sure to pay close attention to the lamp type required for the fixture. Some LED ready troffer lights use single-ended LED tubes only, double-ended LED tubes only, or can use both.

Color Temperatures and Additional Customization Options

LED troffer lights come in color temperature options ranging from 3000 Kelvin to 5000K. Fixtures in the 3000 to 3500K range produce a white light similar to halogens. Troffer lights with a color temperature of 4000K and higher emit a cooler, more blue light that has been shown to help improve visibility and reduce eye strain.

Customization Options

There are numerous ways that you can further customize troffer lights to suit the needs of your commercial spaces. If you wish to control the brightness of your fixtures, look for dimmable LED troffer lights. These fixtures can be controlled with 0-10V dimmer switches. Additionally, you can pair your troffer lights with motion and occupancy sensors. These controls can help you maximize savings while also meeting any local or state lighting requirements regarding energy conservation. If your space requires emergency lighting, we offer troffer lights with built-in backups that provide up to 90 minutes of illumination during a power outage.
